Last year at this time maso least received a greeting Frauke Christmas, along with a brief note informing us of their intention to take a "mini-vacation" in Ukraine. The truth is that these supposed vacation, Frauke going to be exercising Election Observer from Germany (or was it by the European Union?) In that country.
this year not to be outdone, another of his emails came to my buzóny Christmas, like the previous year, felicitacióny card with news of adventures as an observer in the recent elections in Azerbajan. Emilio On this occasion he was accompanied with some photos and wrote the report for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. This document, which can be bonded more down-written in German, so if you do not know a word this language (as happens to me), the Germanic-speaking cop closest you can find and share a few beers while you translate it. I guarantee you a long time to stories about offers of money in exchange for blank ballots, how to deal with inexperienced players, landmines, and anti-American sentiment that runs between the local military (" remnants of its communist past?).
Dears, the end of his post, a collection of links to websites where you can sign up if you're interested in acting as an observer for your country, or by the Uni & # 243, n Europe. They also clearly explain what would be your possible role, where does the money to finance your stay in the country, and just about any question that can rise . Take a look. If you have any
Might As Some of you already know, after my first election observation in Ukraine last Christmas, I Decided to repeat once again. So I Was Beginning of November in Azerbaijan in Some lost place at the end of the World, counting votes in the dark and looking for anything resembling a toilet (I reviewed my list of the worst toilet in the World to one I found in a little village called Sinix)
Some of the photos will give you an idea:[ Pictures from Azerbaijan (Gadabay & Baku) ] For those who can read it, herewith attached the report I sent to German Foreign Affairs Ministry:[ Berichtzur(...)Aserbaidschan.pdf ]
As an american friend of mine said, an Election Observation is like a blind date that lasts for four days . My partner happened to be a quite weird russian guy…
We rode an UAS Jeep for three days in the most impossible roads trying to avoid any landmines, Interviewing candidates, election Commissions and the like. Among the funniest visits Was the One to a polling station in a military complex. We ended up HAVING breakfast with the "commander" and listening to war stories and to American bashing of all sorts for Not Giving back
Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan and Their wasting time in Iraq (do Kurds Have More Rights Than Azeris (?))
All in all, we saw and Heard of all kinds of tricks to manipulate an election.
Interest on doing Something of the like, you May contact:All the best,
- Germans: www.zif-berlin.org
- USA: register as a candidate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Or
- Generally:
- OSCE - ODIHR
- EU - Election Observer Rooster
